Connecting a gateway – USB port : DSGW-210

I’m following the SDK quick start guide for the DSGW-210 . In section 3 ‘Target Setup’ it shows the connection of the DSGW-210 to a laptop. Can you describe the purpose of this connection?

When connecting via USB I see;

[ 5286.284547] usb 1-4: new high-speed USB device number 8 using xhci_hcd
[ 5286.433300] usb 1-4: New USB device found, idVendor=2207, idProduct=0006, bcdDevice= 3.10
[ 5286.433305] usb 1-4: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
[ 5286.433308] usb 1-4: Product: rk3xxx
[ 5286.433311] usb 1-4: Manufacturer: rockchip
[ 5286.433313] usb 1-4: SerialNumber: 2d54863e5f52e00f

Do I need to install a driver?

Many thanks
Allan Jones.

It is automatically recognized by your system(shows chips, serial NM, and Manufacturer information), so you do not need the driver for it. May I know how did you connect it? Using USB-A or USB-C? and at the final part of the section3 you will need to use ttl connection, so you will see the full command output

I connected using USB-C on my laptop.

If I understand correctly, the USB connection does not provide a debug interface - only some basic system information.

Yes, if you need to see the debug interface, you may use ttl interface
